This post explains your options for getting support for TrueZIP.
Since the beginning of 2011, quite a lot has changed in the community interface of the TrueZIP project:
- The project home page at http://java.net has been relaunched, resulting in a new design and features for the TrueZIP developer website.
- The build system has been migrated from Ant to Maven, resulting in a new design and features for the TrueZIP user website.
- Finally, this blog has been established to post articles about the TrueZIP project.
Now with all these new web sites and content, you may wonder where to turn for help. So here is all you need to know in order to get support in the first place:
- Please consult the documentation on the user website first. It’s far from perfect yet and you may need to browse a bit, but it’s already quite comprehensive. I am currently working to improve it (#TRUEZIP-51).
- For any kind of incident (bug report, improvement request, feature request, task request, help request etc.) please post this incident to the User Mailing List once you have subscribed to it. The User Mailing List is your direct connection to the community, including myself. My response time is usually less than a day - without warranties!
Once an incident has been approved as a bug report, improvement request, feature request or task request it gets tracked as an issue in JIRA. You can then use JIRA to monitor and discuss progress on this issue, vote for it, add file attachments to it etc. JIRA is now also used to schedule new TrueZIP versions and prepare their Release Notes (I am pretty pleased with it).
I hope this article contains helpful information for you. Please comment if you miss something.
